Editing/Layout

I've been really busy lately trying to piece the actual zine together now I finally have all the content! It's now almost finished. I reviewed the chosen images and layout style with my mentor recently and it felt great to have him like it as much as I do. Minor suggestions that I have taken on board, however, include closer cropping of a few images throughout. This will help portray a more discreet sense of self as opposed to constant and obvious portrait images, which will hopefully in-turn make the zine more intriguing.

Since my PetchaKucha presentation (discussed in a previous post), when the decision for a zine instead of a book inspired publication was best, I've been researching and sourcing different zine's for inspiration. The following one always stood out to me and just seems to embody so many aspects that I pictured. During this recent process I've been referring to it for more inspiration if I get stuck for layout on certain pages, it's been a great help.

Smaller sizing feels somewhat more arty and personal. My document has been created in a5!

I'm surprisingly finding the layout process quite straight forward which I did not expect at all, perhaps all my in-design practice has finally paid off! A couple of IT sessions have helped build my confidence, it's comforting to sometimes have the security of a professional right there!
