Mentor Meeting 1

After my first mentor meeting today, I am left feeling quite overwhelmed. Whilst conversation was particularly interesting to me and vast research ideas involving working-class were discussed, I am now struggling to put this into my project's perspective; especially relating to my initial youth urban-style combined concept and often fashion focus.
However, the discussed areas, such as re-posing class and exposing stereotypes do provide more inspiration for conceptual depth (my current main concern - as discussed in post 1). In order to tackle my concern and refine ideas, I plan to increase my research and analyse meaning in imagery relating to working-class/youth/urban style/representation. Alongside this, I am keen to begin shoots with a now more open mind and experimental approach. I often form better outcomes when in a creative atmosphere, therefore hope, with the help of my team, we will soon see a clear, concentrated and insightful project concept form.

Discussed areas and further research:
- Working class poses. By looking at the work of documentary photographers who focussed on working-class, I may begin to identify key attitudes/behaviour/aesthetic that can be mirrored in my own shoots.
- This may lead to exposing stereotypes.
- Family photos. As a source of inspiration, gathering family photos, nostalgic or simply interesting images may help to develop a stronger concept.
- Giving models disposable camera's. Subjects taking photos in their own time with disposable's may help to determine how they portray themselves/their surrounding's/social lives/families compared to how they are portrayed in my editorial shoots. Disposable's as opposed to phone shots will also allow no reviews, deleting or editing of imagery, reinforcing true representation.

Tasks for this week:
- Continuous research
- Arrange shoot 1
- Source family photos
- Buy disposable cameras for subjects
